The Fava Bean or Broad Bean is a fresh shelling bean that needs to be removed from the pod and then blanched to help remove the outer skin. They are labour intensive to prepare but worth the trouble. The Fava Beans have a grassy-vegetal-slightly sweet flavor and can be used in salad, Risotto, pasta dish, a vegetable side dish, or puréed and used for a spread.
