Hoja Santa Leaf, aka Eared Pepper, Mexican Pepperleaf, Root Beer Plant, Sacred Pepper and Yerba Santa Leaf, is a large leaf that can be used as an herb, leaf vegetable or edible wrap. It has an anise-minty-peppery-slightly sweet flavor and is used in Mexican dishes like Mole, Pozole and Tamales and can also be used in soups or to wrap foods.
